Jackson to face Toney, while Robinson clashes with Maromo at MFC 32

Two new foes have been selected to fill injury-related slots on the MFC 32: Bitter Rivals lineup.

Stepping up to face Jamie Toney is Kyle “The Jackhammer” Jackson for a welterweight showdown, while Dominique “Fallen Angel” Robinson will clash with Mukai Maromo in a lightweight encounter. Both bouts are part of the HDNet Fights live telecast on Friday, Jan. 27 emanating from the Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

Jackson (9-1), who fights out of Salt Lake City, Utah, has won four of his last five fights including a vicious second-round TKO of Brandon Melendez. Toney (14-7) had his five-fight winning streak stopped at MFC 30 by Dhiego Lima. The Los Angeles, California, fighter was originally slated to meet Cody Krahn who was sidelined by a concussion, and then Ryan Chiappe who has been set back by an injury as well.

Meanwhile, Robinson (8-4-1) comes into his MFC debut riding a four-fight undefeated streak highlighted by his stellar third-round knockout win over John Gunderson back in February. It was the 29-year-old Oakland, California, product’s second consecutive third-round stoppage.

Maromo (6-2) had a spectacular performance at MFC 31, putting on an exciting display of Muay Thai skills en route to a clear-cut decision over Sabah Fadai. The Edmonton, Alberta, resident was originally slated to face Adam Lynn at MFC 32 but Lynn, who recently earned the MFC’s 2011 Knockout of the Year Award, has been sidelined due to a knee injury.

These fights slide in on a card highlighted by the co-main events for MFC 32: Bitter Rivals. In a light-heavyweight clash which will be the MFC’s first five-round, non-title fight, Brazilian striker Wilson Gouveia takes on heavy-handed crowd favorite Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis. The other co-main event has Antonio “Mandingo” McKee defending his MFC lightweight crown against Brian “The Bandit” Cobb.
