Guaranteed Success
Filler - Matt Miller
- May 15, 2008
I have to say since joining the MFC team last year, I've seen so much growth
and it makes me so proud to be part of the team. Yes - your right I'm only a
writer and not even a good one at that but Mark Pavelich (owner of the MFC)
makes me feel like I'm a big part and help to the success the MFC has
received and I'm sure that everyone of his staff works their asses of
considering there's about 5 employer's in the MFC and look how big it's
getting. For that I applaud the Pavelich family!
My Predictions for MFC 16-Anger Management

*Full Fight Card Details
Ryan Ford (5-0) vs. CJ Fernandes (14-6) – Welterweight Division
Ryan Ford just seems to get better and better every fight! His submission victory over Pete Spratt was very impressive and he’s the man to beat right now in the MFC welterweight division. UFC veteran Fernandes is just coming off a TKO victory after having a 3 year lay off from fighting. Will he be too rusty to take on a game Ryan Ford? I’m sure his trainer Matt Hughes is whipping him into shape as we speak, but I hope Hughes is bringing his bible into Fernandes corner because he will need all the help he can when he faces off against Ford’s super natural strength. Ford is the only man the can beat ford, is he ready mentally? Focus is key! My guess: Ford by TKO round 1- but I’m not counting CJ out (for the record)
Welterweight’s added to MFC 16
Filler-Matt Miller - April 2, 2008
Undefeated Matt Macgrath (5-0) will make his MFC return Friday May 9th at MFC 16 Anger Management. The 170 pound Judo technician will look to slam his way through Hawaiian sensation Kaipo Miller (2-0). Don’t be fooled by Miller’s record he has a vast experience in this sport and has been around for a long time.
Quick Facts:
Matt Macgrath, 5’10, 170lbs, Halifax Nova Scotia,
Titans MMA (Trains with MFC world Light Heavyweight Champion Roger Hollett)
New "Kid" on the block:
Filler - Matt Miller -
Mar 13, 2008
"The Kid" is back on track! After two disappointing back to back losses in
two different weight classes, Ryan McGillivray is back on the winning track.
Mentality after winning 5 fights in a row a loss would be draining, now 2
losses would play a huge factor in your emotional and physical state.
Time off was not an option for "The Kid" like it is for Ryan Heck (5-1)
who's taking time to regroup after suffering his first loss at MFC 15.
McGillivray showed ton's of heart by battling through his 2 losses and
getting back on track.
All about Jimmo

"Hardest Test Yet"
I watched MFC 15 Live courtesy of HDnet from my home here in California. The
fights we're awesome from top to bottom, but there was one guy who really
impressed me, they say he's kind of a "Big Deal" Ryan Jimmo.
Zellner was no push over I've seen him fight here in the states and he's a
warrior, but as soon as the bell rang Jimmo just dominated from start to
finish. For such a big guy his kicks impressed me - quick, hard and very
accurate, must be from his extensive Karate background.

Ryan Ford (4-0) (The Real Deal) vs. Pete Spratt (The Secret Weapon) (18-10) – welterweight division
This is Ford’s biggest step in his young career as he takes on one of the world’s most feared strikers and UFC star Pete “The Secret Weapon” Spratt. Spratt told maximumfighting.com “I’m coming to Canada to put a stop to Ford’s career before it gets started” Ford Replied by saying “That the only secret weapon he will have is the smelling salt to wake him up after I knock him out. Spratt vs. Ford headlines MFC 15.
The drama continues Heck vs. Maestas set for MFC 15.
Filler-Matt Miller - Jan 14, 2008
Ryan Heck is set to take on American sensation Mike Maestas at MFC 15: Rags to Riches. Heck (5-0) just avenged his best friend’s loss at MFC 14 defeating Don Sanchez by decision. Heck outwrestled, out punched and out fought the American all three rounds. His superior wrestling is what ideally won the fight as Heck’s ground transitions where flawless.
Now the drama continues, I will fill you in on the story if need be.
Injury Update.
Filler - Matt Miller - Jan 04, 2008
- MFC Heavyweight Champion Scott Junk tore his ACL in his left knee during his training camp leading into his UFC debut against Christian Wellish. Ironically Wellish finished the fight against Junk with a knee bar taking advantage of the already injured knee and also tarring the Hawaiian’s MCL. Junk will get back into training as soon as he can but the doctor’s are sidetracking him, forcing him to be out for at least another 5months.
- Roger Hollett who recently won the MFC world light heavyweight title, by quickly finishing former champion Victor Valimaki will also be out for a couple of months. Hollett who fought in his hometown of Halifax, NS injured his knee while stuffing a takedown against American Lou Polley. Roger Hollett will be out of action until early summer, look for him to be even more vicious on his comeback trail when he defends his MFC world light heavyweight title this summer.
Ryan Ford - The roller coaster ride.
Filler - Matt Miller - Nov 18, 2007
Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford stays focus through it all, and it’s been a long time coming.
Despite thousands of screaming fans, loud music blaring and blinding lights, when he enters the MFC ring and he's looking across at his opponent all he can think about is to hurt them, make them bleed, and drive his fist through his opponent's head. For Ryan MMA is not just a sport it's a fight, a fight for life. When Ford enters the ring he has the feeling that his opponent is trying to take food away from him and his family and most importantly it's his last fighting chance and he has worked so hard to get where he is today.
His feelings are intense, his life flashes in front of him, he looks back on childhood memories that haunt him and he pictures places he never wants to go back to. These thoughts light a fire under him that I can't see a man extinguish anytime soon. The scariest part is his stare-eyes of a demon that stare into the abyss with a layer of gloss that forces out emotions.
Brad Zazulak speaks out.
Matt Miller - Nov 6, 2007
Zazulak talks on critics calling his fight a mis-match.
I had the chance to speak to Zazulak from my home here in Malibu and he
doesn't at all seem scared that he will be facing off against a very
dangerous and flashy veteran. Zazulak will take on UFC legend Mr.
International Shonie Carter at MFC 14 High Rollers Live Friday November 23rd
at the River Cree Casino.
Carter has beaten some of the best fighter's in the world including Current
UFC world welterweight Champion Matt Serra. Now he brings his experience to
the MFC to take on rising undefeated star Brad Zazulak in Zazulak biggest
fight of his young career.
MFC 14 Fight Card Breakdown/Predictions.
Matt Miller - Nov 1, 2007
Main Event:
"Mr. International" Shonie Carter vs. Brad Zazulak:
-Will Carter's undeniable experience be the key to victory? On my scoreboard
its not, on most casual MFC fans it is. It seems like critics are calling
this fight a mismatch but Zazulak just doesn't see it that way (see Zazulak
speaks, on critic calling his fight a mis-match which will be up on Monday
November 5th maximumfighting.com) anyway back to MFC 14 High Roller's main
event.
Zazulak was known as the underdog when he defeated BTTcanada prodigy
Luke Harris by first round KO, so he loves being under pressure and this
fight is no different. Yea Shonie is a way bigger name but Zazulak is young
while Carter is only young at heart. Zazulak has a great chance but I still
think that Shonie is just too hard to put away. Prediction - Shonie "the
pimp pf MMA" Carter by Decision.

Real Deal improves to 3-0
Filler with Matt Miller - Oct 25, 2007
Ryan Ford has done it again. He represented the MFC and Pro Camp very well
on the weekend with a one sided beat down, finishing with a rear naked choke
over his opponent Adil Abbas at ECC 6 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
It took a
whole 1:21 to finish his opponent, it started with them trading some jabs as
Adil went for the takedown, "The real Deal" sprawled and landed on top of
Abbas. As Abbas was trapped against the fence at least he pulled guard, with
a few tremendous blows which caught Abbas square on the jaw it was easy for
Ford to pass, vicious elbows and strikes where given before Abbas
desperately gave up his back in a turtling fashion. It was the beginning of
the end has Ford locked on the Rear Naked choke and squeezed suffocating
Abbas forcing him to tap out at 1:21 of the first round.

Will he be beaten like a little "kid"
McGillivray (5-1)
vs. Vujnovic (4-0)
Matt Miller
- Oct 16, 2007

He went from 185 (middleweight) to 170 (welterweight) to 155
(lightweight) and after a disappointing close decision loss to American
Donald Sanchez, "The Kid" returns to where he is most comfortable and that
is the Welterweight (170lbs) division. At MFC lucky 13 Ryan McGillivray
went up against his hardest test yet when he faced off against Donald
Sanchez, It went all three rounds, the kid took down the American about 12
times in three rounds but couldn't do anything when it hit the ground.
Sanchez on the other hand bombarded 'The Kid" with strikes from stand up,
top and bottom. The biggest player of the fight was the damaging Leg Kicks
which was enough to secure Sanchez's victory.
.
Two men, one goal!
Dwayne Lewis vs. Ray Penny - Oct 4, 2007

There’s been a lot a talk about a man that is virtually unknown, brutally ground and pounding one of Canada’s dangerous veterans in Yan Pellerin. At 6’2 and a shredded 205 pound body frame with KO power and good ground game can be a devastating combination to draw up a new contender in the Light Heavyweight division.
Ray “The Hitman” Penny a product of Boreland’s combat team in Ontario is a new comer to the MFC and he will make his debut at MFC 14 High Rollers. Penny is a force to be reckoned with in his division and makes a great addition to the MFC 205 pound class.
.
Brad Zazulak: a name you should remember
Filler with Matt Miller - Sept 20, 2007

Brad Zazulak raises some eyebrows! A new name to MMA compared to his opponent, a prodigy of BTT Canada, a 22year career in national judo in which he has won many medals and championships, and the owner of Hayabusa fight wear which makes him Infamous in Canada is Luke Harris.
MFC Lucky 13 - August 24th, 2007
Brad Zazulak vs. Luke Harris
Zazulak comes in with a big right dropping Harris to his back, Zazulak follows up with a flurry making the ref pull him off the bloodied Harris. Winner by TKO round 1 - Brad Zazulak.
Reporter asks- Zazulak What happened during the fight?
Brad: " I took him out, they thought he was a big contender, I took him out quick"

“IT’S ON”
Two undefeated rising stars go to war, Roger “The Hulk” Hollett
(5-0) is set to face ATT contender Tommy Lawlor (4-0)
By Mat Miller - May 25, /2007
Roger “The Hulk” Hollett sends J-Day running down a weight class and big bad American Top team contender Tommy Lawlor steps in with no fear in his eyes. The 4-0 light heavyweight from Orlando, Florida looks to score a big victory over hollett and score big with the Canadian women all in the same weekend.
Tommy Lawlor revealed to me that he will be looking for the take down to secure a submission or to get on top and drop bombs, elbows, hammer fists, and forearms. Lawlor will try and hurt Hollett before he finishes the fight, “I’ll be throwing with bad intentions” he declared to me.
.
“Fighting” Shipp
By Matt Miller. - May 14,/2007
UFC powerhouse Wade “The Nightmare” Shipp looks to run over Heavyweight #1 contender Scott “Punk Haole” Junk for the MFC world heavyweight title at MFC 12 High Stakes June 22nd, 2007. Shipp wanted this fight so bad that his manager actually made the phone call over to the Maximum Fighting Championship and asked to fight Junk for the heavyweight title.
Shipp wants to fight the best and Junk is the fastest rising star in the heavyweight division, with his only loss being his first fight ever, on short notice against former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez. Junk at 6’0 295pounds was told by the Pittsburgh Stealers he was to small to play his position. Knowing he couldn’t put any more weight on his 6’0 frame or he would explode he decided that his passion would go into MMA. Early on in his career he was scouted by Famous B.J Penn to fight for his team. Junk decided to take the challenge and he lived with Penn for 9months while they trained together.
The Start, the Rise, the Fall, and the Empire.
Mark Pavelich with Matt Miller -
Apr 25,/2007
Go to the washroom, get some popcorn, comeback sit down and get ready for an E-true Hollywood type story. I met Mark Pavelich at UFC 66 – Liddell vs. Ortiz 2 where Jason MacDonald Choked out Chris Leben unconscious. When I saw him walking through the lobby I was like who is that? - I didn’t know who he was, but I knew he was somebody-I had to go and meet him. He was walking around like he owned the place, a rockstar maybe, I was immediately intrigued by his character, and I was drawn to him, like a fan would be to a famous fighter. I’m from Malibu, CA and I’ve never seen anyone pull off wearing sunglasses indoors – he did, and still does. Well we started talking and immediately hit it off, the rest is history.
The Next Big Superhero
FILLER with MATT MILLER. - Mar29,/2007

We’ve all seen the Rocky movies and his intense unorthodox training regimen. Well the 5’10 205 pound monster from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, Roger “The Hulk” Hollett pulls trucks up hills, runs over 4k’s with 120 pound bags, and wears heavy body vests while doing intense plyometrics. It works! according to his undefeated record of 4-0-0. Here’s a scary thought a man that trains harder then rocky, looks like Arnold, and fights like the Hulk, sounds like we have a new Superhero.
