I have to say since joining the MFC team last year, I've seen so much growth
and it makes me so proud to be part of the team. Yes - your right I'm only a writer and not even a good one at that but Mark Pavelich (owner of the MFC)
makes me feel like I'm a big part and help to the success the MFC has
received and I'm sure that everyone of his staff works their asses of
considering there's about 5 employer's in the MFC and look how big it's
getting. For that I applaud the Pavelich family!
Yes MFC 16 was not the best card, your right! But the production value was
great - in my opinion the commentating was good not great and it need's a
little work but other then that HDnet does a phenomenal job of broadcasting
one of the most organized show's in the world - Yes in the world. I've seen
how the Pavelich's put their product together and how everything just flows
almost flawlessly during the week of the build up of the event and how
fights night run's so smooth without any hiccups.
MFC 16 was a huge success with the numbers of hits from the live broadcast.
Let's review the fight card. Everybody is saying it was so boring, but
really it was only 2 and half fights (which almost put me to sleep) -
Gormley vs. Pele was a hugging contest and it was brutal for action. The
battle of the undefeated welterweights was also disappointing, with neither
fighter really trying to finish but they laid and prayed until the last bell
rang. I actually enjoyed the technical battle between Maestas and Henderson
it was fast paced and very technical and on the other hand I can see how
people who are only fan's of fighting and not the sport can say that it was
a little boring but Henderson's finish was awesome! Other then those 2 and
half fights the rest of the card was very exciting in my opinion at least!
The Night started off (on television) with two guys that just wouldn't give
up in Sorenson vs. Martin - Martin pulled out of a tight armbar with a
thumbs up and an exploding right which will be on his highlight video. But
Sorenson's experienced came through in round two finishing the fight with a
tight choke forcing Martin to tap.
Neil vs. McGillivray was a pure Mixed Martial Arts battle, great exchanges,
great wrestling and takedowns and beautiful ground transitions and
submission attempts. Both fighters' did awesome but Neil pulled out the
decision by knocking McGillivray down with almost no time left in the third
stanza. Standing ovation to both fighters!
Lofton Vs. Kuchera - two animals going at it both guys almost finished each
other a couple time's during the first round. So much aggression in one
ring! Two very relentless fighters' trying to keep their 0 next to their win
column! It was a spectacle to watch. Lofton the native of Oklahoma
submitted Kuchera with a rear naked choke with about 5 seconds left in the
second round- I'm sure both gladiators will be back.
Camozzi vs. Lewis - Camozzi improved his record to 8-1 with a win over game
Lewis in a battle of exchanges and a dominant victory for Camozzi who won by
decision.
I already told you my thoughts on Gormley vs. Pele, Veach vs. MacGrath and
Henderson vs. Maestas.
The Main Event was no disappointment Ford Dominated ufc veteran CJ Fernandes
from start to finish ending the fight with a tight rear naked choke. This
victory earned Ford (6-0) a chance at the MFC world welterweight title
(rumored to be against 33-5 Drew Fickett)
MFC is on the map and it's time for them to travel and bring the talent, the
production and the knowledge of MMA to fans across North America - I'm
impressed so should you!
Be excited that MMA will have a new sheriff in town, in due time my friend!
They know the formula and they have the product I guarantee success!
