FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN
Edmonton Sun - June 17, 2008

Mark Pavelich is on top of his world.

Maximum Fighting Championships (MFC), his made-in-Edmonton mixed martial arts production company, is now Canada's biggest.

He had a major TV deal for live coverage with uber-sports businessman (Dallas Mavericks) Mark Cuban's HDNet TV - going live into Canada, Mexico and the U.S.A.

Cuban is flying up for MFC 17: Hostile Takeover on July 25 in the once-again sold-out River Cree Casino concert centre - to chew on a few cigars and drink fine whisky with Mark.

Next phase, says Pavelich, is taking the show on the road, bringing MFC, with its HDNet TV contract, to U.S. cities.

Not bad for a fella who opened the Maximum Martial Arts Training Centre in 1999, when "people didn't know what the sport was about ... They thought it was rooster or dog-fighting.

"Then, we had nowhere to present our fights. So I started MFC. And I realized I was good at it.

"My goal, and I will not be happy until I'm there, is to be second to the Ultimate Fighting Championships (the top dogs in mixed martial arts) in the world."

Go, Mark, Go!
