All battles set for Hostile Takeover
Full card to complement MFC welterweight title fight
- June 10, 2008

For Immediate Release
EDMONTON, AB – The Maximum Fighting Championship has set a lineup of full-out action for MFC 17: Hostile Takeover which will take place before a sold-out crowd on Friday, July 25 at the River Cree Resort and Casino just outside Edmonton, Alberta.
MFC 17 will also be shown live on HDNet throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico plus HDNet Owner Mark Cuban will be in attendance at ringside.
As previously released, MFC 17 will be headlined by the first welterweight title fight in the organization’s history. Rising star Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford will put his undefeated streak on the line in his quest for the championship when he takes on highly accomplished veteran Drew Fickett.
The MFC takes great pride in giving its loyal and supportive fans an all-around great fight card and with that in mind, the lineup is an impressive one for Hostile Takeover.
Three lightweight fights highlight the main card as all six fighters aim to take the final step towards vying for the MFC’s 155-pound crown. In one lightweight encounter, hard-punching Texan Jason Maxwell makes his MFC debut as he takes on Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Santino Defranco. In another lightweight battle, American Top Team member Ricardo Tirloni also makes his first trek into MFC territory to go up against Ben Henderson who is coming off a successful appearance at MFC 16 with his victory over Mike Maestas. And in the third important lightweight matchup, Ryan Machan rides a three-fight winning streak into a showdown with Ryan Heck.
Two other fights are featured bouts on the main card. Middleweight Brad Zazulak, who is making his return since a triumph over legendary showman Shonie Carter, gets back down to business when he takes on another longtime veteran in Ron Faircloth. And in light heavyweight action, “The Poster Boy” Aron Lofton, the victor in his war against Jason Kuchera at MFC 16, will look to keep his unbeaten run intact when he squares off against the always rugged Dwayne Lewis.
Among the highlights from the preliminary bouts, Jason Kuchera will look to rebound from that loss to Lofton as he takes on Jay Whitford, and Evan Sanguin – the star student from UFC star Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald’s school – aims to make his mark in the talent-laden MFC lightweight ranks when he takes on unbeaten Gavin Neil.
