Will he be beaten like a little "kid"
McGillivray (5-1) vs. Vujnovic (4-0). - Oct 16,/2007
He went from 185 (middleweight) to 170 (welterweight) to 155 (lightweight) and after a disappointing close decision loss to American Donald Sanchez, "The Kid" returns to where he is most comfortable and that is the Welterweight (170lbs) division. At MFC lucky 13 Ryan McGillivray went up against his hardest test yet when he faced off against Donald Sanchez, It went all three rounds, the kid took down the American about 12 times in three rounds but couldn't do anything when it hit the ground. Sanchez on the other hand bombarded 'The Kid" with strikes from stand up, top and bottom. The biggest player of the fight was the damaging Leg Kicks which was enough to secure Sanchez's victory.
After going back to the drawing board and talking to his Pro Camp teammates, they decided that McGillivray would go back to 170. "Ryan wasn't strong at 155, he is still young and will only put on weight, at 155 he wasn't himself physically (strength, and conditioning) and mentally" said Teammate and UFC star Jason MacDonald. Dropping 35-to-45 pounds will play a huge role in the later rounds of a fight.
"McGillivray took the loss pretty bad, he hate's losing more then the next guy, but I think it was good for him, it's made him meaner and he seems like he wants it more now" said his Manager and MFC owner Mark Pavelich.
There's no sympathy coming from MFC matchmakers, has McGillivray takes on Undefeated "Croatian Sensation" Stjepan Vujnovic. At 4-0 with all his victories coming via Submission and with a kickboxing backround it seem's that Vujnovic is pretty well rounded.
At 6'2 170 pounds Vujnovic will have a huge reach advantage over McGillivray. Not only will the "Croatian Sensation" have a reach advantage he is also a south paw fighter which in theory is a lot harder to fight against making it awkward for the orthodox fighter to get off with his strikes.

It seem's like the kid wants to re-prove himself as one of the best 170 pound fighters in the MFC, even when he hasn't loss in the welterweight division. On the other hand Vujnovic want's to prove that he belongs in the MFC and he can be champion. So on Friday November 23rd at MFC 14 High Rollers, we find out who takes a step closer to that 170 pound vacant welterweight title when Ryan McGillivray takes on undefeated Stjepan Vujnovic. Filler with Matt Miller.
