MFC 14 Fight Card Breakdown/Predictions.
Matt Miller - Nov 1, 2007

Main Event:

"Mr. International" Shonie Carter vs. Brad Zazulak:

- Will Carter's undeniable experience be the key to victory? On my scoreboard its not, on most casual MFC fans it is. It seems like critics are calling this fight a mismatch but Zazulak just doesn't see it that way (see Zazulak speaks, on critic calling his fight a mis-match which will be up on Monday November 5th maximumfighting.com) anyway back to MFC 14 High Roller's main event. Zazulak was known as the underdog when he defeated BTTcanada prodigy Luke Harris by first round KO, so he loves being under pressure and this fight is no different. Yea Shonie is a way bigger name but Zazulak is young while Carter is only young at heart. Zazulak has a great chance but I still think that Shonie is just too hard to put away. Prediction - Shonie "the pimp of MMA" Carter by Decision.

Main Card:

Ryan "The Real Deal" Ford vs. Mike Sorenson.

-Two undefeated welterweight sensations will go at it on November 23rd. Ryan Ford seems to have a lot of years of built up anger and he as finally found something where he can release his hormones and not have any repercussions. On the other hand Sorenson is a complete fighter, very well rounded with tricks up his sleeve. Will Ford's ultimate drive for success put another victory under his belt or will his questionable gas tank run out giving Sorenson an easy finish. Prediction - Ryan Ford by Knockout round 1.

Don Sanchez vs. Ryan Heck.

-A lightweight clash for the #1 contendership spot for a shot at the vacant MFC world lightweight title. Don Sanchez is coming off a huge Victory at MFC 13, when he beat Heck's best friend and fan favorite Ryan "The Kid" McGillivray by decision. Heck is on a roll with all his wins coming by submission. It seems like Heck has a sound ground game and that's where he needs to take this fight if he doesn't want to know what a loss feels like. Sanchez's striking ability is far above Heck's but McGillivray took him down at will and Ryan Heck's wrestling surpasses "The Kid's". Will Heck be able to work when the fight hit's the ground where McGillivray couldn't? Prediction - Don Sanchez by TKO (ground and pound) Round 2.

Ryan "The Kid" McGillivray vs. Steve "the Croatian Sensation" Vujnovic .

- McGillivray has never lost in the welterweight division so why not stay there! How will "The Kid" rebound from his first loss when he dropped down to 155 in his last fight? I'm not sure, all I do know is that MFC matchmakers aren't giving "The Kid" an easy come back fight as Vujnovic is no joke. Steve Vujnovic stands 6feet 3inches with a 170pound frame, conclusion he has long limbs and he puts them to work as he's submitted all of his opponents. The kid in 6 career fights has never been finished will Vujnovic be the first "NO" but that doesn't mean he won't win. Prediction - Steve Vujnovic by split Decision.

Ryan Jimmo vs. Nick Penner.

- Jimmo has come a long way since his loss to Adam Braidwood at MFC 11, and now he's coming back to the MFC to take on Canadian Kickboxing Champion who "Submitted" his opponent at MFC 13 Nick Penner. This is a candidate to be the fight of the night as both fighters' are extremely well rounded with technical strikes and surprisingly good ground. This fight will be decided by the good old gas tank, we all know that Ryan Jimmo can go three rounds but can Penner? Prediction - Someone's going to sleep - Ryan Jimmo by TKO round 3.

Dwayne Lewis vs. Ray Penny.

- Finally my favorite division, the light-heavyweights, big boys that move like little guys. Fact: Dwayne Lewis throws down in every fight. He will not lay down for anyone and he throws bombs that can finish you at any second, his opponent is the same way and he's coming off a Knockout victory over dangerous veteran Yan Pellerin. Fist will fly like bombs over Baghdad . Prediction- Ray Penny by TKO round 2.

Undercard:

Jason Kuchera vs. David Lainoff.

- Kuchera absolutely went through his opponent at MFC 13 will he be able to do the same against a man dropping down from heavyweight? David Lainoff stood and traded with kickboxing champion Nick Penner so after dropping his excess weight he says he will be much quicker and stronger. Prediction - Kuchera by TKO round 1.

Shawn Wright vs. David Logan

- Shawn Wright has just started his MMA career at 37 years old so he potentially has already gotten his "old man strength" oh by the way he has wicked ground, David Logan is a veteran of the game that has a puncher's chance has Wright striking needs work. Prediction - Shawn Wright by Submission round 1.

Dan Ferguson vs. Josh "Rage"  Kyrejto.

- The MFC doesn't really promote the featherweight division but we've always had a soft spot for Josh Kyrejto and he's back in Exiting fashion when he takes on Dan Ferguson. Here's a little MMA math Ferguson beat Cody Shipp who Beat Don Sanchez who beat Ryan McGillivray which is pretty damn good. Kyrejto is a veteran and he's been in some of the best MFC fights ever throwing flying knees and such, and let's not forget his war with Garett Curan. Prediction - Dan Ferguson by Decision.

Jason Zorthian vs. Gavin Neal.

-Zorthian is a character and a half; he finished Kevin Dolan by armbar at MFC 12 and followed up with an aboriginal victory dance that looked something like a jumping vibrator also called the rain dance from hell. Gavin Neal has some serious skill when it comes to throwing his hands in a devastating fashion; it's a classic battle of grappler vs. Striker. Prediction - Jason Zorthian by Submission in round 2 after eating a few right hands to the dome.

Prelims:

Kevin Dolan vs. Jason Biggeman

Mike Tubbs vs. Troy Sorenson
