“IT’S ON”
Two undefeated rising stars go to war, Roger “The Hulk” Hollett (5-0) is set to face ATT contender Tommy Lawlor (4-0)

Roger “The Hulk” Hollett sends J-Day running down a weight class and big bad American Top team contender Tommy Lawlor steps in with no fear in his eyes. The 4-0 light heavyweight from Orlando, Florida looks to score a big victory over hollett and score big with the Canadian women all in the same weekend.
Tommy Lawlor revealed to me that he will be looking for the take down to secure a submission or to get on top and drop bombs, elbows, hammer fists, and forearms. Lawlor will try and hurt Hollett before he finishes the fight, “I’ll be throwing with bad intentions” he declared to me.
Over in Florida Tom trains with ATT alongside Seth Petruzelli, Ben Saunders and Luigi Fioravanti who will be coming down to corner him. His regimen includes mass amounts of swimming, circuit training, and kettle bells which are extremely difficult if you ask me. Then the most interesting, he told me his secret… he finishes his training by going to the bar and downing 10 shots in a row! For a good night sleep of course. Gullible me! I then responded by “are you serious”??? He started laughing and added a simple “no”.
Lawlor is quite the character and the high school history class he teachers must be pretty interesting. I wish my high school history teacher was a professional MMA fighter on the side. The social science major graduate of central Florida started training MMA after his experiences in pro-wrestling and before his career as a teacher. Tom wrestled throughout his years in university and added more tools to his belt when he joined the world famous American Top Team academy.
Six or seven years ago Americans underestimated a lot of Canadian fighters, but with the recent success of Canadians in the UFC, American fighters are training harder then ever, before crossing the border. Lawlor admits to me that “No country is better, Canada, Japan, the U.S. There are good and there are bad fighters in each country and you just have to train for everyone.”
Tom didn’t sound too worried when he talked about Hollett, he’s not scared of Roger’s power because he trains with the best people around. “His physique doesn’t scare me as a matter of fact I don’t care what his physique looks like! All I care about is the physique of the Canadian women that I’m coming there to get” Was that ever funny, just the way he said that, it was priceless.
On a serious note Lawlor isn’t coming to the MFC to lose he’s all business whether it’s with Hollett or the ladies. The fight against Hollett is a huge opportunity for Lawlor to get his name out, Roger’s publicity is building and this fight is huge for both parties. It’s a fight between two undefeated light heavyweights, two rising stars looking for that MFC world light heavyweight title shot. Two men fighting for the same goals, I smell someone’s ego getting smashed because one of these two will lose there undefeated status and I don’t think either is ready to give that up.
Rough words: “Hollett is the #1 Contender and he thinks he’s the favorite and that gives him an advantage, that’s not the case in my books, logic states he thinks he’s better then he really is.” Was I ever fired up when he said that, I’m so pumped up for this battle to happen. Tom Lawlor seems very focus because when we started talking about a title shot he was glad to hear it, but also stated that he’s taking one fight at a time and right now the #1 contender, Roger Hollett, is in his way.
Final words: “If it was up to me I would want to finish this fight quick in the first 10 seconds so I can go out and dance on the bar with the beautiful Canadian women and trust me they will remember my name, either from beating Hollett or beating something else…”
Prediction on the World heavyweight title fight: “I think Junk takes this one, he’s the better Athlete.”
Well that’s it for this edition of the Filler, but be sure to make it to MFC 12-High Stakes Live Friday June 22nd at the Shaw Conference Center. The undefeated LHWs battle it out for a shot at the title, Roger “The Hulk” Hollett ready to take on Tommy Lawlor which is an awesome addition to the world heavyweight title fight. Until next time I’m Matt Miller
